OVee Spring Gauges

OVee Spring Gauges are based upon the 'Three Wire Method' which is universally recognised as the most efficient and accurate since it does not suffer from the disadvantages of needing an extra hand to cover three separate pins and a micrometer, nor does it require grips or supports. Each gauge is made to a specific fit, so its accuracy is not affected by pitch or angle errors which eliminates the need for guesswork, calculations or conversion tables. The gauges are made from heat treated, high tensile steel wire specially selected for accuracy, and are well within British, European, and American standards. 

So how easy are Ovee Spring Gauges to use ?

STEP 1 : INSERT
Take the gauge in one hand between the thumb and fore/index finger and press down gently on the thumb ring to expand the coils. Scew the part to be measured into the gauge, making sure they are sufficently expanded to avoid any friction.

STEP 2 : MEASURE
Then simply release the thumb ring before making a micrometer meauserment over the coils. Use a slight rocking motion to ensure you are taking the measurement over both coils. 

Step 3 : Compare
Now all you need to do is to compare the reading from the micrometer with the values shown on the gauge data plate - your reading must fall between the two values. To remove the component from the gauge, you just depress the thumb ring and unscrew it from the component. It really is that easy!
